Actively
involved in teaching and community outreach, Keith Lue is an
experienced educator and human development
professional. His personal mission is to
improve lives and build communities. Keith holds a
masters of science degree in education from California
State University East Bay (formerly Hayward) and a bachelors of science degree in business
management-marketing from Brigham
Young University.
Prior to Keith's employment in higher-ed, Keith worked
in high-tech.
In 1997, Bill Gates recognized Keith
as one of Microsoft's "Top Contributors" at the annual
Microsoft Global Summit meeting in Orlando, Florida. As
a Marketing Manager, Keith
developed innovative marketing strategies, which
contributed to Microsoft's successful campaign to win
vital Internet market share.
In 2000, Keith Lue launched his career in
higher-education by coaching MBA students at the
University of Washington and teaching part-time at
Bellevue Community College. In 2002, Keith became the first Manager of Staff
Training & Development Services at Utah Valley State
College in Orem, Utah. His responsibilities included
new employee orientation, performance management, and
professional development programs. Desiring to broaden
his experience in the field of human (student) development, Keith
became a career counselor in the Career Services &
Student Employment office. UVSC's Staff Association
(PACE) recognized Keith's efforts in 2005 by honoring
him with the UVSC Distinguished
Employee Award. In 2006, Keith was given the
Student Affairs Vice President Award of Excellence.
Today, Keith helps to strengthen Alumni communities and
cultivate the "Spirit of the Y" for Brigham Young
University in Provo, Utah.
Keith attributes his success to hard work,
a passion for learning, and the tenacity to get results.
One of Keith's former managers said that "Keith was
consistently prepared, knowledgeable, enthusiastic,
innovative and motivated. I could always count on
Keith…” Keith believes that one of the greatest compliments
he has ever received was from a former colleague who told
Keith "I wanted to thank you for being such a great
example to me. I recognized right away, that you were a
person with a positive outlook on life and I am always
trying to emulate that... You seem to treat everyone
with the same level of respect, no matter what their
status or position."
Keith enjoys helping others succeed. A student
said this about Keith... "You know, you are an awesome
people person! You really know how to show someone you
care about them and that you're actually interested in
helping them. I wish all my teachers were like that."
